Understanding why you need to act fast

The level of water you have can quickly transform to the next level, if left too long clean water can turn into grey water and grey water can turn into black water (which is very dangerous). When water is absorbed into a building it can cause structural damage so the sooner the water is extracted the less damage it can cause.

Water can cause corrosion and electrical damage and can also cause rot, mould and other harmful pathogens.

Types of water:

Clean water – this is water from burst pipes, kitchen appliances or a burst water tank and is free from pathogens and bacteria. This can also originate from rainwater via a leaking roof or another external source from your building. This isn’t generally harmful to your health but is harmful to your building. For example, it can lead to a build up moisture that can result in mould, which in turn, can affect your health.

Grey water – is wastewater that is free from faecal matter. There is a possibility of a risk to your health and is harmful to your building.

Black water – is water that contains raw sewage and has bacteria, pathogens and other toxic substances, this is extremely harmful to your health and causes the most damage to a building.
